Ottershaw & Hamm Moor vs Frimley Green Cricket Club - Sunday 13th July 2014, 13:00

Club President Nick Gates gave a vintage display with the ball to help FGCC to their first away win of the season against Ottershaw and Hamm Moor in this timed game. Winning the toss and choosing to bat on a drying wicket, and with the game brought forward by an hour due to the World Cup Final, Jim gave Mike Parry the chance to pinch hit at the top of the order. With 3 Ottershaw players running late, the game started at quite a pace thanks to Mike and Rich putting on 43 by the 6th over. By the time Ottershaw's bowling attack arrived FGCC were well set, but it wasn't long before OHCC strike bowler Khalid made his presence felt, bowling Rich. Mike soon followed after a quickfire 36 from 40 balls, but with Khalid now coming in at quite a pace on a wicket offering plenty of uneven bounce wickets tumbled at quite a rate. In spite of some uncharacteristic defensive batting by Jim, FGCC's middle order collapsed meekly, with Khalid ending on remarkable figures of 11-9-3-5. After a smashing tea FGCC came out with slower bowlers Nick and Jim keeping things very tight, Nick striking in his first over. Once again Rich was on fine bowling form, keeping it on a good line and taking 3 wickets for a miserly 5 runs off his 8 overs. After Nug had contributed to the cause with two wickets (in what he believes was his 'unluckiest bowling spell for the club' - the figures don't back that up, Nug! ed.) a returning El Presidente mopped up the tail, ending with a 5-fer and thus dismissing Ottershaw for a mere 76.
