Frimley Green Cricket Club vs Farncombe Wanderers - Sunday 24th May 2009, 14:00

Frimley Green Cricket Club (214/7) beat Farncombe Wanderers (195/8) by 19 runs

Match Detail
Frimley Green took their first win of the season despite a spirited fightback from Farncombe's middle order. Batting first in great weather, Dave Brown and Antony Johnson got FGCC off to a great start, racking up 81 in 13 overs before Dave was caught in the deep. Thereafter the innings flagged somewhat, hampered by good bowling from Macdonald, though a breezy effort from Alan Greaves took his side to a strong-looking 214/7. David Huggett, taking the first over, then ripped through Farncombe's top order, taking 3 cheap wickets before picking up an injury to end his spell prematurely. At one point Farncombe were on a precarious-looking 19/4, but captain P Bright (70) and D Ackehurst (33) gave Frimley Green a real fright before both being dismissed by Kevin Whitehorn, who bowled terrifically despite a hamstring injury. The innings finally folded in the last over, Alan Greaves taking two deserved wickets to end Farncombe's resistance.
